Downloaded via the Sparkle mechanism, twice.  The “Relaunch” step failed both times.  This was in the log:

14/8/11 13:29:53.580 BibDesk[53995]: Sparkle Error: An error occurred while installing the update. Please try again later.
14/8/11 13:29:53.580 BibDesk[53995]: Sparkle Error (continued): Authenticated file copy from /var/folders/q1/h3bl8w513lbdk0gzj3drpjwc0009y4/T/BibDesk 3071 Update 1/90BFB1E1-C5B2-474B-B8DD-00E42E015180/BibDesk.app to /Applications/TeX/BibDesk.app failed.

I tried a third time, watching the logs after clicking the install button, with BibDesk in the background.  The alert dialog disappeared (wash’t able to find it), but the “check for update” menu item was greyed out.  I quit and relaunched BibDesk, and it came up as 1.6.3.  Log showed this:

14/8/11 13:33:54.000 kernel[0]: hfs: mounted BibDesk on device disk2s2
14/8/11 13:33:54.581 mds[54]: (Normal) Volume: volume:0x7fe09a856e00 ********** Bootstrapped Creating a default store:1 SpotLoc:(null) SpotVerLoc:(null) occlude:0 /Volumes/EE80F26F-AE12-4054-9ED2-9443352F6C54

14/8/11 13:34:49.447 sandboxd[226]: ([28201]) CVMCompiler(28201) deny mach-lookup com.apple.distributed_notifications@Uv3

The latter had a “full report” button showing stack trace and other details, which I can provide if needed.

Not sure what occurred to start all this.
